As the minister of the Puritin for life church, the outrageous sermons by Mr. Edwards are incredibly ridiculous. No one can tell the people that they will be going to hell. There views on religion are completley out of this world. I took a piece from his sermon and this is what he is saying to his members " The wrath of god burns against them, their damnation does not slumber; the pit is prepared, the fire is made ready, the furnace is now hot, ready to recieve them; the flames do now rage and glow. The glittering sword is whet, and held over them, and the pit hath opened its mouth under them. When has a pastor ever had the right to say this to his people? His Church needs to rethink their religous views.
All the comments the Mr. Edwards says could be very hurtful to the people at my church. People don't want to hear that they are going into a pit of flames. His choice of vocabulary is darkening for most of the people. At my church, we praise god and make people feel comfortable to be here. I don't want them to be scared to come to my church. A church is supposed to make you feel good, not tell you that you are going to hell once you die. My personal opinion about Mr. Edwards and his church is that they need to re-think their whole personal view on religion.
People need to be told what is good for them and that they will be going to heaven once they die. I preach this at my church when necessary. Its the right thing to do when you are a minister of a church. Hell should not be preached while in a church, as saying that god burns against them. Mr. Edwards needs a reality check when preaching to his people. Its never a good thing to tell people that the pits are open and awaiting you. This affects my people in many ways as it affects Johns people. It makes people feel as all hope is lost for them and they will be ending their lives in the warm pits of hell.

How I feel about writing
When it comes to writing it takes me a decent amount of time to get started. I am not the best writer, and I am hoping that will change this year. I try to get a head start on anything to do with an essay or let alone an in class writing assignment. I don't work too well under pressure just because I get nervous and begin to panic. When we are assigned a writing assignment, I'm not confident right off the bat, but once I get into my groove I become confident at times. I feel like if I put more effort into it I could have so much more confidence in my writing. My strengths in writing come with my ideas. It takes me awhile to brainstorm but I always end up with the perfect idea in my head. My weakness is definitely punctuation, I have always struggled with this in the past, but I see myself improving on this at times. Hopefully I will get new ideas to help me on this. I have a few doubts about my writing like my punctuation, writing enough, and just thinking my best wont be good enough. I want to improve on all aspects of writing so it will help me towards the future.
The units I am most excited for are the book units. I feel I can comprehend books pretty well and memorize important things to them. I know in the past when we read Julius Caesar and Of Mice And Men, I did very well on the tests and assignments for those books. I am not looking forward to the poetry unit and the major essay parts. Last year, I didn't do so well in my poetry out loud contest. I get nervous in front of the class and draw blanks. It would be nice if we didn't have to do it, but I already know the answer to that.
